Connections, a documentary film series: “The Last Tourist” (2021)

Presented by Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)

“The Last Tourist” examines the effects of mass tourism on our planet. If you plan to travel outside the U.S., this film will give you plenty to think about. After watching the film together, students can engage in a facilitator-led conversation about the film’s content and impact, which forges deeper learning and social connections.

The Last Tourist (Hulu) examines the effects of mass tourism on our planet, and industry often unmoored from the land and local communities that it promotes as destinations. Written and directed by Tyson Sadler, the doc is truly global in scope, traveling to Kenya, Thailand, Peru, and the Caribbean to tell its story of an industry and its consumers facing a paradigmatic moment.
