The Gulf Gate area south of Stickney Point Rd. on South Tamiami Trail is enjoying a new reputation for being constantly in transition, with new shops, restaurants, bars, and clubs opening up regularly. This makes the Gulf Gate area a melting pot of places to explore with its distinct character and vibe.

Over the past couple of years, it has become an increasingly vibrant, diverse and eclectic neighborhood with a mix of ethnic restaurants catering to different cultures and interests. One of these restaurants is Tortellino Bistrot.

Located midway down the block on Superior Avenue, this intimate restaurant is small, cozy and inviting.
Tortellino Bistrot is an authentic Italian restaurant owned by Chef Otman Musle and his partner, Sierra Gibson. See the EAT SARASOTA one-minute video here to get the “feel” of the restaurant.

The restaurant prides itself by specializing in handmade pasta dishes like tortellini, ravioli, fettuccine, and spaghetti, prepared using traditional Bologna techniques. Standout dishes include the Tortellini Alfredo, Tortelloni Bolognese (larger tortellini stuffed with ricotta), Tagliatelle with Red Wild Shrimp, and Lasagna Bolognese made with spinach pasta, Lobster Ravioli,  Veal Parmigiana, and Osso Bucco.

There is an intimate and welcoming ambiance with exceptional service, making diners feel like they are in Italy. Heightening the exceptional culinary experience is their impressive wine list, all wines from the Tuscany region including Montepulciano, Brunello, Chianti and more. Savor Sarasota starts June 1

#SavorSarasota is June 1-14, when prix fixe menus for $25 for lunch and $40 for dinner are available throughout the area, including at Tortellino Bistrot.

Specialties like pumpkin ravioli with prosciutto makes Tortellino a cut above other Italian restaurants.
