- The Chalk Festival in Sarasota 202 will be held on August 11-13, 2023, at Burns Square in downtown Sarasota. This annual event features over 100 professional chalk artists from around the world who create stunning works of art on the sidewalks. There are also opportunities for children and adults to participate in chalk art workshops and competitions.The Chalk Festival is a free event and is open to the public. It is a great way to see some amazing art, be creative, and enjoy a fun day in downtown Sarasota. Here are some of the things you can expect at the Chalk Festival:
- Loomis Brothers Circus is a traditional three-ring circus with live performing animals, a live band, and more at Robart’s Stadium in Sarasota August 4 – August 6.. The circus first performed in Sarasota in 1999, and it has been a regular visitor to the city ever since. Loomis Bros. Circus is the last circus in the United States to feature three rings, exotic animals, and a live orchestra. The company is committed to preserving the tradition of the old-fashioned circus, and it offers a family-friendly show that is sure to entertain audiences of all ages.

Loomis Brothers Circus August 4 , 5 & 6 at Robart’s Stadium - Sea Turtle Walk: This guided walk sponsored by the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium at Longboat Key: This organization offers free turtle walks on Saturdays in July at 6:45am. (note: last chance in July is July 29, no walks in August). The walks meet at the public beach access at 4795 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Please note that sea turtle walks are weather dependent and may be cancelled due to rain or high winds. It is a good idea to check the organization’s website or social media pages before heading out to a walk.
