Event Details

Inspired by the guitar of flamenco legend Paco de Lucia, Don Soledad cultivated his sophisticated, soulful sounds in northern California, beginning with his early guitar studies with the great Spanish flamenco maestros Mariano de Cordoba and Agustin Rios, the nephew of legendary guitarist Diego del Gastor.

Soledad’s studies continued in the southern region of Spain, in the city of Jerez de la Frontera with guitarist Juan Diego Mateos. Soon thereafter, Soledad was performing shows in San Francisco and the Sonoma and Napa Valley wineries.

As a performer and recording artist, Soledad has worked with talents in a variety of genres, including rock singer Eric Martin (Mr. Big), jazz bassist Kai Eckhardt (John McLaughlin and Garage Mahal), and opening for the late jazz guitar legend Larry Coryell. As a composer, Soledad has recorded two original albums, “Camino de Seda” in 2006 and “Soluna” in 2013.

Upon departing the West Coast, Soledad has been a mainstay in Florida and other U.S. states performing with his band, The Don Soledad Group, who won first place at FusionFest 2020 for “Best Musician” category.

Award-winning pianist Pablo Arencibia started his performance career at the age of four, leading him to perform in Venezuela, Spain, U.S., France, Greece, Romania and Colombia. He graduated from the Juan José Landaeta National Conservatory (Caracas, Venezuela) and holds a Master of Music degree in Jazz Piano Performance from the University of South Florida.

Arencibia has performed with internationally acclaimed orchestras such as the Caracas Municipal Orchestra and the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra; and he has performed and recorded with a wide variety of national and international artists, including Terrell Stafford, Scotty Wright, David Pate, The Lennon Sisters, John Lamb, Federico Nathan, Jorge Pérez (Patax), Javier Bruna, Whitney James, Jose Valentino, and many others. He was also the musical director for the Spanish musical theater show “Ay Carmela” national tour.

With more than 20 years of experience as an educator, Arencibia has taught piano and other music courses at the Creativa School of Music (Madrid) and TAI Arts (Rey Juan Carlos University, Madrid), among other institutions. He was also appointed Director of the TAI Arts Contemporary Music Composition Program. He currently teaches Jazz Piano at the University of South Florida, University of Tampa, and Hillsborough Community College.

His contributions to the field of piano performance mechanics and instrument response have been published by Springer as part of the book “Perspectives in Performing Arts Medicine: A Multidisciplinary Approach.”
