Join a UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County educator on a tour through the Preserve while we look for and learn interesting facts about insects, as well as how to collect, identify, and appreciate all the six-legged crawlers among us.
Scientists have identified more than 1 million species of insects globally—including 12,500 in Florida alone—and estimated that accounts for just one-fifth of the world’s total. Learning more about insects is vital, as they are essential for the proper function of all ecosystems, serving as food for other creatures, pollinators, nutrient recyclers, and more. Join us to learn more about our local insects.
Families of all ages welcome, fun activities for kids.
