Lead by the celebrated Executive Chef Jimmy Nadell, is an authentic Tuscan Italian restaurant that promises an unforgettable dining experience. From its cozy ambiance to its delectable dishes, this gem is a must-visit for anyone craving a true taste of Italy on the Gulf Coast.

As you step into Tuscany Nokomis, you’re enveloped in a warm, inviting atmosphere throughout its multi-dining room, 16K sf building. The décor is tastefully designed with dim lighting, comfortable table seating, and semicircular, 24 stool bar,  with nightly LIVE music  playing in the background. The piano player adds a touch of elegance, creating a sophisticated yet cozy setting perfect for special occasions or casual gatherings alike. The service is exceptional, with attentive, knowledgeable staff who treat every guest like family, ensuring a truly enjoyable dining experience.

Tuscany Nokomis boasts a diverse and authentic Italian menu showcasing the best of Tuscan cuisine. From classic dishes like Lasagna and Eggplant Parmesan to innovative creations like Aratra Arrosto con Salsa ali Arancia (crispy, coal-roasted Duckling with orange sauce); Flaming Oysters Rockefeller;; Lobster Newburg (a classic dish spawned in 1880 in NYC) – every meal is crafted with the freshest locally sourced ingredients to ensure maximum flavor and quality. The pizzas are standout, with over 200 cooked in a single night! For heartier options, the Filet Mignon and Lamb Chops are highly recommended, with the filet mignon served with a rich Béarnaise sauce and the lamb chops infused with a blend of herbs.

I visited Tuscany Nokomis on three occasions with friends and relatives. On the third visit, I interviewed Chef Jimmy. Sarasota Events Calendar’s top recommendations include starters: Bruschetta appetizer (to Die For); Insalatta di Spinaci; Vittello A’ la Piccata or Scallopini; Panko Crusted Fillet Rainbow Trout; Jimmy’s homemade Gnocchi; Fettuccini a la carbonara; Mama’s Seafood Linguini; charcoal-grilled Flaming Garlic Steak and additional pork, fish, chicken and vegetarian choices.

Executive Chef
Jimmy Nadell

At 16 years of age, Chef Jimmy Nadell was named the head chef of the family-owned, five-star Chicago restaurant, Medium Rare Steak House. His family immigrated to the US and Jimmy grew up helping his parents in operating 17 restaurants they opened over time. After graduating from Juliet Culinary College, he went to work as an Executive Chef at his family’s famed Port of Entry Restaurant in St. Charles.  After a devastating fire destroyed the restaurant in 1986, he turned his sights to the West and was hired as an Executive Chef for Aspen’s famed Caribou Club where he rose to fame.  He later opened a catering business in Aspen ad his clients for “A List” celebrities, until Covid hit and he was forced to say goodbye to the West and he bought a 57-foot sailboat and lived in Marathon, Florida for two years before total boredom hit him. He eyed Nokomis after hearing through the industry channel that Mama Leone’s was closing down. The move for him was yet another chapter in his storied career that spanned decades.
