Sarasota Art Museum Campus Tour

November 15 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Learn about the adaptive use of the 1920s Sarasota High School and its 1960s addition which became the new Sarasota Art Museum.

The original Sarasota High School Building (1926) by M. Leo Elliott was transformed into the Sarasota Museum of Art by Ringling College of Art and Design, officially opening in 2019. This tour will explore the “Museum Campus,” comprised of the rehabilitated and adaptively used school, addition (1960) by Paul Rudolph, and the former Galloway’s Furniture Showroom by Victor Lundy (1959), currently waiting to be restored. Please note that accessing the second floor of the original Galloway’s building requires care and attention to navigate, including steep stairs and crouching. This portion of the tour is optional.
