Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time was composed in a WWII prisoner-of-war camp in Görlitz Germany.
Messiaen had been captured in the early days of World War II and this mystical work was written for fellow prisoners to perform.
The Grammy-nominated Lincoln Trio – Desirée Ruhstrat, violin; David Cunliffe, cello; and Marta Aznavoorian, piano –are joined by Sarasota Orchestra’s principal clarinetist Bharat Chandra for this deeply moving and unforgettable masterpiece.
