Impressionism : Ekphrastic Writing

In conjunction with our special exhibit, Dali & the Impressionists: Monet, Degas & More, and in collaboration with the teachers of Keep St. Pete Lit, we invite you to join us for a special evening of writing inspired by art, or ekphrastic writing.

This ekphrastic workshop will begin with an exclusive viewing of our special exhibition. Afterward, you’ll use this experience as a jumping-off point for a piece of writing. Though storytelling is often a verbal or written presentation, stories surround us in every detail of our lives—our imaginations soar when we see a whimsical piece, certain colors and shapes trigger childhood memories, and textures remind us of another time. Participants will write a one-page ekphrastic story or poem inspired by the exhibit and have the chance to perform their work during the event.
