Our Fourth One-Act Play Festival rapidly approaches.
Four new, short plays, all Florida premiers by award-winning playwrights from across the United States, will be presented at each performance with live musical interludes between plays.
…Theatre Odyssey has issued a call for plays from students in grades 9 through 12, or home-schooled equivalent, for the Eleventh Annual Student Ten-Minute Playwriting Festival. Eight scripts will be chosen for full production on February 4 and 5, 2023 at the FSU/Asolo Center for the Performing Arts in Sarasota.
Festival Production Manager Preston Boyd has also announced that this Eleventh Annual Student Ten-Minute Playwriting Festival will mark another first for Theatre Odyssey. The company has engaged JASON CANNON, a professional actor, director, playwright, teacher, and publisher to work both individually and collectively with the finalist playwrights whose plays have been selected by our readers. This effort will help them improve their plays prior to the performances in February. We believe this is a wonderful opportunity and hope it is a further motivation, in addition to the Verna Safran Prize of $1000 for Best Play and $500 for Runner-up play, for young writers to submit their plays for this festival. In addition, the finalists who do not win Best Play or Runner-up will receive $100 each thanks to donors to Theatre Odyssey.
