Empowering Stories, Enriching Lives: The 26th Annual Through Women’s Eyes Film Festival”

The 26th annual Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival, themed “Reel Equals,” is scheduled to take place from March 6-11, 2025, in Sarasota,

I’m proud to be part of the Leadership Team for the 26th annual Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival, themed “Reel Equals,” which will take place from March 6-11, 2025, in Sarasota. This mission-driven festival highlights women filmmakers and stories that challenge underrepresentation in mainstream media while addressing critical social issues, gender equality, and environmental themes.

This year’s festival introduces The Green Room, a special program focusing on environmental films and discussions. Topics include water conservation, climate change mitigation, and land stewardship. Films such as Two Kinds of Water and Searchlight explore global water-related challenges and human resilience. The festival also features a diverse lineup of over 30 films from 10 countries including Kenya, India, Iran, and Australia, offering both in-person screenings at Sarasota theaters and virtual on-demand options for a global audience.

The festival is committed to amplifying diverse voices, showcasing works by female and non-binary filmmakers or those centered on women’s experiences. Awards will be presented in categories such as Best Feature, Best Environmental Film, and Best Emerging Filmmaker. Selected filmmakers are encouraged to attend for networking opportunities, audience Q&A sessions, and panel discussions.

As part of its advocacy for gender equality, Through Women’s Eyes collaborates with like-minded organizations and hosts events beyond the festival, including book clubs and community gatherings. With its blend of art and activism, the festival continues to inspire audiences by spotlighting stories that shape perspectives and drive social change.
